There is abiding trust in those who have done so much for AYBI justified by the high standards and principles they have shown. This code of conduct makes explicit the focus and ethics expected of AYBI facilitators

  1. Accomplish Core Tasks

Complete the authorise facilitators training course.

Share session guidelines at the start of every meeting.

  1. Promote independence from interjected irrational thought processes:

Prompting self-awareness, using the principles and tools of AYBI Where a participant’s scope is outside of AYBI we will encourage them to seek other sources of support

  1. Respect the dignity and diversity of participants

We strive to treat each AYBI participant with care, respect and be mindful of individual differences. We strive to understand and respect issues of social diversity including race, ethnicity, national origin, colour, sex, sexual orientation, religion, and mental or physical ability.

  1.  Act With Integrity

We have duties to act honestly and responsibly, and to conduct them in a manner consistent with the goals and principles of Action Youth Intervention.

  1. Pursue knowledge And Competence

We learn about the tools and methods of AYBI and seek to continually build up ethos of the organisation

  1. Protect Confidentiality

We respect participant’s right to privacy; both within and outside of the session we will not solicit or disclose private information unless failure to do so may put someone or the participants at risk

  1. Safeguard Vulnerable People

If participants appear to be at imminent risk of harm or evidence they are putting a vulnerable person at risk, we will discuss our concerns with the AYBI Health and social policy safeguarding lead.

We will not engage in any from of harassment or any kind of exploitative relationships outside or during sessions

  1. Working Together

We will strive to work cooperatively with other members of AYBI organisation, and acknowledge the positive contributions of other Youth intervention programs that aim to help youth refrain from criminality, channelling their energy into positive productivity.

  1. Provide Accurate Representation

We will make a clear distinction between statements made as a private individual and these made a representative of Action Youth Intervention program. We will represent ourselves as knowledgeable only within the scope of our experience.

Facilitator’s Supervision

There is monthly peer supervision meeting for staff to discuss any issues that may be brought from sessions as a team or during one to one staff supervision.

AYBI Session Group Rules

The participant’s will form group polices under supervision of the facilitator

This give the group participants a sense of ownership and are more likely to conform to polices they set in their group. When the session becomes established the group view on these matters may change and rules can be reviewed and updated.

AYBI Session Guidelines

We take responsibility for our own decisions, actions and behaviour, allow others to be responsible for theirs.

We see irrational behaviour as the responsibility of the individual, even if the behaviour has a negative impact on others. Participants are welcome to attend AYBI session regardless of whether they are currently engaging in irrational behaviour or the most hard to reach youth. We believe changing irrational belief changes negative behaviour.

AYBI Respect Confidentiality

We agree not to tell anyone outside the group who attend and what was discussed in AYBI session.

We Avoid Side Conservations and Stay Focus on The Group

We are encouraged to ask questions and share positive ideas about what has helped me, which we describe as real talk, but we avoid lengthy  ‘war stories’ by facilitator using common urban reference ’say no more’ (snm)

We Do Not Use Offensive Language or Tolerate Offensive Behaviour

Threats, intimidation, violent behaviour and possession of drugs or weapons are all grounds to be barred from AYBI session.

We Use Action Youth Intervention Program

AYIP has been developed, as an alternative to the robust strong-arm style of youth justice, has not be effective in the community. Studies show a more person centred cognitive approach would be effective, if one changes their beliefs then they can change their negative behaviour. Action youth intervention program has made extensive research such as youth gang outreach work, analysis and self-awareness through life personal experiences. This has empathetically enabled our team to understand key factors that contribute to youths joining gangs, being active in crime and forming antisocial behaviour. We seek professional help where AYBI program is not appropriate. This program is NOT designed to help with serious mental health problems other than irrational behavioural difficulties, youth crime prevention low self-esteem, addiction
